This upcoming Sunday, January 30th, marks the second anniversary of Tuesday Whitt going to heaven, a day that changed my life and the lives of so many people I love forever.
This beautiful little girl, with the heart of a fighter, taught me so much about appreciating every little thing that life has to offer and not taking anything for granted. Ever.

This Sunday, I will be lighting a candle in remembrance of Tuesday and I ask that you do as well.
And, today, I will be donating $20 to her big brother Spencer who is again shaving his head this March for St Baldricks. Please join me in supporting this great organization and in showing Spencer support, today and always.
There are so many things I could tell you about how my life has changed because of Tuesday and my friendship with her mom and family, but instead, all you really need to know is that I could've never gotten through difficult times in my life if not for imagining all Tuesday had to endure and all my friend has been through.
It's amazing what faith can do for you in your darkest moments and amazing how in those moments when you least expect your faith to remain, it holds you firm

If Tuesday has touched your life even closely to how she touched mine,
please remember her this Sunday.
Light a candle.
Donate.
Hug your babies.
Be thankful.
Tell the world about Tuesday.

The week after New Year's we took our Christmas trip up North. I can't begin to tell you how excited I was that there was NO snow, barely even on the ground, until 5 miles from the In-Laws house (gotta love living in the "Lake effect snow area"). Even then, there wasn't much. We could still see the ground in some places...However, that didn't last long. Our first full day there, we decided to take the kids Ice Skating. Jess has been a few times, but the younger three had never been. I will say they all LOVED it.

Earlier this week we got the forcast. Snow! The kicker? The wonderful weather forcasters were calling for...wait for it...anywhere from a trace to a foot! Way to cover your bases! lol

By Thrusday, they had narrowed it down to a trace to 2 inches. Then it went to 2-4 inches. Then 4-6inches. I woke up at 1:30 am to just a dusting on the ground and I was scared the kids were going to be VERY dissapointed. How would I explain it to them. I had promised to make snowmen with them? By 7:30 when I woke up....7+ inches! What? ARe you kidding me? Central NC does NOT get this kind of snow! CRAZY!

We quickly got up and went out to play in the snow!

Sadly, after just a few pictures, my camera messed up and for some reason, would not take any more pictures!

We played with the neighbors, threw snowballs, rode on the sled, shoveled the driveway (OK, maybe that was daddy, and it wasn't really fun, but it was done).

Once back inside, and borrowing chocolate chips from a neighbor, we began the warm up process, I got my camera fixed (Thank goodness, a life with out my camera would be a sad, sad life) and baked some chocolate chip cookies. HOWEVER, after the first batch came out of the oven, just as I was getting ready to put the second batch in, the power went out! Great way to ruin our snow day, Progress Energy (who told us it could be midnight before it was back on)! I called the neighbor (who by they way, had power), gave her the second batch of cookies, already on a cookie sheet to have for her family. Afterall, I did borrow the chocolate chips from her. We began to work on a game plan since our only from of heat is electric. We decied that we would hotel points to get a room at a hotel with an indoor pool. The kids could swin while looking at the snow outside.

We packed a quick bag, got our pool things together, packed a cooler, got in the car and the power came on....2.5 hours after it went off!

We had to break it to the kids that we weren't going. That didn't go over very well...so we went to Walmart, got some movies and treats. Went out to dinner and now, the kids are happily watching their movies and eating popcorn.

Hopefully more pictures to come tomorrow.

I will not make any promises, but I am going to TRY to blog more often. Lots of great news to tell as of late!

Carolina Shootout Champions!!

That's right! Carolina Soccer Club '96 Girls are the Carolina Shootout Champs! And Boy did they deserve it! After a long tough year, these girls went to Charlotte, NC and played their hearts out and came out on top and Jess came home with a goal!

Did I mention it was cold?

The final game was a shut out winning 2-0!

CONGRATULATIONS GIRLS!!

That is where the good new ends...we came back to our car in the parking lot and this is what I found

My purse was taken. I left it on the floorboard of the front seat, it had my wallet(of course) and a small Nikon Camera in it. The GPS, an iPod, and a cell phone were also out, but they didn't touch that. A debit card was only used once, so I am thanking God that is was not any worse than that.

Here is the nice Deputy knocking the rest of the glass out so we can begin our long drive home, in the cold, with no window! LOVELY!

Special thanks to my mom and a neighbor who watched the 3 littles so Scott and I could go and enjoy the weekend with Jess!

Delaney's 1st Soccer Game

Delaney's first soccer game was this weekend. She did great. Much better than we thought. She played a couple years ago and was not into it very much at all. This year she was ready to try again, and we couldn't be more proud of her.

I didn't get very many pictures. Owen had a minor accident on the play ground which forced me to miss over half of the game. The score of the game, you ask? Well at this age, they don't keep score, but if they DID, Delaney's team would have won 9-1! The one goal that they let in was while Delaney was in goal. I missed it all! I am so sad about it.

OH! Did I mention that Delaney's daddy is her coach? Congratulations to Coach Scott, Delaney and the entire Rhino's soccer team!

Friday morning I met up with some friends to go Strawberry picking. Since the girls were in school, it was just 3 mommies and their boys. They all had a great time.

However, the first thing the boys spotted was the tractors boy were they in heaven to just stand next to it!

These are the Whitts...

They are the beautiful children of my friends, Jess & Charley. They are privileged children.
Privileged because they grew up in a home full of love, in a family that envelopes the very meaning of home... where the world revolved around happiness. and exploring. and adventure. and love of man. and earth.
Their parents did everything right. For their kids.
Everything.
Healthy food. Healthy living. Happy life.
And then cancer came.

Piper, Axel, Spencer & Tuesday
It was a shock.
They did everything they should do. They loved their bodies. Their children. Their world.
They ate healthy. They lived strong. They fought hard. Every.single.day.
And cancer still won.

Spencer, Piper & Axel
There's a big gaping hole where Tuesday once was. A hole that everyone can feel and yet no one can fill.
All the prayers, the tears, the hugs, the love.... none of it touches that space.
Nothing.
But they still feel love and hope and happiness.
And that is why I do what I do.
To help bring them any bit of happiness I can.
And part of that is to make sure Tuesday is never forgotten and that her legacy lives on forever.
Not because the family asked it of me, but because I need to do it for them.
Because I love Tuesday and miss her.

Saturday we had Delaney's birthday party. Actually, it was a joint party with her BFF, Kayla. Their birthday's are only a couple weeks apart and we decided to do a joint party. The girls had a blast.

Two post in one day...what is this world coming to?

A tradition from Scott's family, the Easter bunny does a "Treasure Hunt" for the basket. There is no telling where that silly Bunny will had your basket from year to year!

St. Patty's Run Green 8K

Saturday, Scott ran his first 8K (he did a 5K a few weeks ago). I was able to make it to this one and got there just before they started.

Friday night, early Saturday morning we got snow. And lots of it, by central NC standards! lol In fact, so much that today, Wednesday, is our 3rd day out of school. How much snow, do you ask?

Yep! An entire 3 inches! Woohoo!

Why do you ask are the schools still out? Because our school board can't get their act together and get the school parking lots cleared! When do we make up these missed school days? On Saturdays! Good time, Good times!

These 3 girls have the potential of being T-R-O-U-B-L-E one day when they get older. Wait! Who am I kidding? They already ARE trouble!

St. James Island ~ A Soccer Tournament

I thought that since she has another Tournament this weekend (weather permitting) I should tell you all about the tournament she went to 4 weeks ago. Charleston, SC. What a beautiful. Boy do I wish I had more time to just sight see. Next time. Oh, I forgot to mention, Scott stayed home Delaney, Sean and Owen so my sister, Karen, and I were able to spend some "girl time" with Jessica. Thanks Scott!

The tournament didn't go so well. Although they didn't place so well , the girls played hard and had a great time.

Remembering Super Tuesday

Although this is a post I have been thinking about for a while now, it is not one that I have been looking forward to. And still one I have not figured out what to say. I don't know that there are words to really say.

Even though she lost her battle with cancer (one year ago today) she will forever be "SUPER TUESDAY." Tuesday touched me in a way that I cannot describe. She has touched far more people in her short 2 years than most will touch in a full lifetime.

There is not a day that goes by that I do not think of her. Her mom. Her twin sister. Her brothers. Her daddy. Her entire family. All of whom will have have to move on, every day. Without their Tuesday. They have truly been a pillar of strength. An amazing family.

Winter in Ohio!

I know it has been awhile. I am gonna try to catch up this week...no guarantees. lol

We spent the week after Christmas in Ohio with Scott's parents. Although we had a great time while there, I realized one thing. NC is as FAR North as I will be living. It snowed 5 of the 6 days we were there. And I don't mean a light snow, it was blizzard! Well, it was for me anyway! lol When you have to go out and shovel your driveway EVERY.TIME.YOU.LEAVE.THE.HOUSE it becomes a bit much. Even if it is just 1 hour after the last time you shoveled! CRAZY!!
I will say, however, that it was ABSOLUTELY beautiful and the kids had a great time. Thanks to my inlaws for putting up with your added chaos!

The girls (Hannah, Jessica and Grace) wanted to go frolic in the snow as soon as we got there. Didn't matter that it was 11pm! It has been too long since these cousins were together.

Our first day there, we hit the slopes...we had intentions to do snowboarding, but the kids voted for tubing instead! They had a great time.

Liam and Delaney were just as happy at the bottom of the hill playing around in the tubes, however, they did both take a few trips down the hill.

Scott's parents live in a little town what has a water fall and it was ABSOLUTELY beautiful there.

Scott and I also took Delaney, Sean and Owen to the park to do a little sledding. They LOVED, however, Owen didn't last as long as Delaney and Sean. He and I sat in the van and watched for a while. lol

They were racing, looks like Delaney won!

Liam and Delaney wanted to build a snowman:

however, they made the body parts so big, they couldn't pick them up (an example of "heavy snow, the tracks from the body parts were covered up the next morning). They sat there for a couple days until Jess felt sorry for them and the snowman and went out to put him together.

Tom, Scott's dad called us a couple days after we left to inform us that they could no longer see the snowman because of all the snow!

Delaney, Sean and Owen all got Cowboy (girl) hats for Christmas from MiMi and PopPop. Sean wouldn't let us take his picture, but look how stinkin' cute they are!

New Year's eve, the skating rink was having a early balloon drop for the kids so we all went... (I am realizing I should have split this into two post, please stay with me)

Delaney went skating for the first time. I was a bad mommy and was NOT the one that took her. Her Poppy did not want her to miss out on the fun and he took one for the team and dusted off the ol' skates! Thanks Poppy!

By the end of the evening, she was getting much better!

They had the balloon drop at the end. Over 400 balloons and prizes in 200! It was a blast watching them all pop balloons!

Scott and I got to go out as adults for New Year's Eve. The first time in a very long time. Thanks to Scott's sister Erin for watching the kids and to Jess for helping get the boys down for bed. The boys were not happy that we left them and only wanted Jess while we were gone, so she ended up doing A LOT! Getting them ready for bed, putting them into bed and laying with them until they fell asleep. The boys woke up before we got home and again, Jess had to comfort them and get them back to bed. My little girl is really growing up before my eyes and becoming a responsible young lady! **tears**

Also thanks to Scott's parents for treating us to a night at Pickwick & Frolic, where we enjoyed a wonderful dinner, Martini show at the Champagne Bar, brought in the New Year during a wonderful comedy show and then danced to a live band for an hour or so before returning to reality!

Sunday afternoon, Delaney and I went to see Disney On Ice, Let's Celebrate. We went with our neighbor and friends Dorrie and her daughter, Bethany.

Middle School Soccer

Jess had a great year on her school soccer team. It was a great accomplishment for a 7th grader to make the team, and Jess managed to get a lot of play time. It was sad to say good-bye (for now) to her team mates.

The girls had a great year...only losing one regular season game (which was out of conference). They won the Divisional Championship, but unfortunately they lost the Conference Championship game. However, that did not stop them for celebrating. After the Championship game, the girls and family members celebrated a great year at a Mama Mia's (not the best service, by far).

They all wanted to sit at the same table...it was a tight fit, but they did it.

OK..so it's not WAY back, but it is a bit late. Sean and Owen turned 3 on Nov 4. We had their birthday party a few weekends ago.

We had a Public Safety Theme (which matched their Halloween theme as well). I want to start by saying a BIG THANK YOU to your local Police Dept. They sent out two officers to talk to the kids and let them sit in their cars. They were able to sit in the cars and push buttons for the horns, sirens, etc. We were the talk of the 'hood.

However, I will say that the boys wanted nothing to do with the officers. Oh well, everyone else had a great time with them.

Thanks again to my sister for doing the cakes. We loved them!

They both blew out their own candles this year and wanted to do it again.

15 Months....

15 months to change my life forever.
15 months to change my friend Jess' life.

Just fifteen months ago, Tuesday was a healthy little toddler just enjoying life with her twin sister, Piper. She was a precocious little girl who tormented her brothers and made them laugh with her silly, infectious giggle and she was the apple of her parents' eyes.
And then she was diagnosed and life changed....
Life was cancer.
Every.day.
Cancer.
Painful.
Horrible.
Pitiful.
EVERY DAY.
Until she was gone....
And now, 15 months later, her parents struggle. Her brothers struggle. Her twin sister struggles.
To get beyond cancer.

They want people to know the truth. About cancer.

I am walking to raise money for Juvenile Diabetes.

JD, the son of a friend of mine was diagnosed with Type 1, Juvenile Diabetes, in January 2005. Since then his family has walked in the annual Walk to Cure Diabetes. I have walked 3 of the 4 times (I have a good excuse to miss the one, I was 7.5 months pregnant... with Twins.)

Well, guess what? It's that time of year again when we gear up for the JDRF annual Walk to Cure Diabeteshis diabetes. He is insulin dependent and has been on pump therapy for 4 years and it hasn't slowed him down a bit. He has continued to participate in gymnastics, soccer and baseball. JD was even able to attend golf camp and spend a week with his grandparents this summer. Along with his family, I am dedicated to helping find a cure for JD and the best way is through the annual walk. Since his diagnosis in 2005, JD has made great strides in controlling alk. Last year our team, JD's All-Stars, increased and we were able to exceed our team goal! This year, we would like to at least match that amount of $3000!! Debi's family arrived late Wednesday night. The 4 little ones took no time at all to warm up to each other and play like they have been friends for ever.

After dinner, the kids ate their nasty treats that Debi and I got them while we were out at the grocery store.

Hill Ridge Farms

Three years in a row now we have visited Hill Ridge Farms. I am sure we will go back next year.

The sky was a bit cloudy, so we decided to get the main things out of the way first. So we started with the train ride.

A day at the park

Last week was Delaney's first week of track out. We decided to have a play date with some old friends from preschool. Off we went to the park.

First, we had to try out the slides.

I wasn't sure how the boys would do with the boat ride, but they loved it and didn't want to get off.

It was a rough weekend for Delaney. First, she bangs her knee on the wall and gets a HUGE bruise, then on Saturday she was sliding on hardwoods and took a header. Lots of blood. Everywhere. She busted her lip pretty good. After 20+ minutes of calming her down and wiping away blood, she decided she was ready to play again. It didn't take long before she re-injured the same booboo! Rough housing and bumped her mouth on a friends shoulder! More blood, more screaming. This is what she looked like by the time we got home.

She is doing fine. The lip is still swollen and she has a blood blister under her lip. We went to the Dr. today (unrelated issue) and The Dr. said that it was bruised but only time could heal it.

That's right! Today was the boys first day of preschool. We have been talking it up for quite some time not. I was totally prepared for them to both have a total melt down and not make it through the morning, but they both surprised me. Owen did cry for just a bit when I left, but was told it did not last long. They both had a great day and only one potty accident each.

The second first day

The first week of school was staggered entry for Kindergartners. Meaning the kids only went one day and only a few at a time. This gives the teachers a chance to do a little one on one to get to know the child and his/her needs before they have a class full. So in reality, TODAY was Delaney's real first day of school where she was in her class with all of her classmates. We were excited to find out that she already knew several kids. 2 were in her preschool, 1 is a neighbor that she plays with daily and 1 we have know for 5 years (know his parents since 2000).

Today was Delaney's first day of Kindergarten. I must admit, I had butterflies! She did OK. She was obviously a bit nervous. Last night she came down a couple of times saying she couldn't sleep. The teachers did a great job of distracting her so she was not too upset. When we left, she had a very concerned look on her face, but I am sure she is fine. I can't wait to hear all about her day when she gets home this afternoon.

I didn't get many pictures inside the classroom. She was looking a bit sad and I just wanted to leave before she and I both lost it! lol

Thursday morning we got up and headed to Cleveland. Although Scott's dad new we were coming, he did not know why. July 5th was his 60th birthday. Scott's mom managed to pull off a Surprise party on the 4th. Family from New Jersey, Pittsburgh, North Carolina (not just us, but others too), work colleagues, and friends and neighbors. Even Uncle Sam (aka Aunt Cris) was there!

Early Saturday morning, Scott and a family friend took his dad out golfing (Tom, Scott's dad, has these pictures, I hope to get them soon) then the prepreations began! The tent/table guy, the bounce house guy, friends coming to help prepare dips and salsa, and other sides, and THE PIG COOKER! Yes, that is right, in the depths of Ohio, we had a good ol' southern BBQ! I know I have a lot of Northen readers, so when I say BBQ, I don't mean hamburgers and hotdogs on a grill! I mean a pig! Slow roasted over a pit! It was DELISH!!

Scott was golfing all day Wednesday, so I decided to meet up with a dear friend. She is in the process of moving into her new house which just so happens to be near Hershey. We meet half way in Lancaster and toured an Amish Farm.

During the week at Hershey, we got our fair share of chocolate, but I think Delaney really enjoyed the chocolate characters.

The boys were not very fond of the characters. Here is Owen, but Sean would not even let us get that close.

Since Sean was sleeping, we took the opportunity to get a good picture of him and Mr. Hershey bar.

Since Owen is allergic to peanuts, we really had to keep him away from this one. lol

We also saw the Kit~Kat~Bar, but we were down for lunch and I didn't have my camera with me.

Dinner at the Park

During our Park day, we had dinner catered at the park (once again, Thanks VADA). The dinner wasn't all that great, but there was a guy from Zoo America there with some furry little friends. I really wanted to take time out to go there (Zoo America), but it never fit into the schedule.

Hershey, PA Day 4

The Park! Finally we get to go to The Park! Tuesday morning, once again, Scott had meetings, so the kids and I got up and headed over to Hershey Park. I thought that since the boys have been getting so excited to see buses lately, that they would love the chance to ride on one (the shuttle from the hotel to the park). Boy was I wrong! Sean FLIPPED. Owen wasn't as bad. And that was a preview of how the day was going to go, or at least I thought!

First, Let's get sized up to see what we can ride.

The boys were miniatures, but wouldn't stand there for pictures.

First ride was the traditional carousel. I tried to get the boys to go on it, but neither wanted anything to do with it, so we watched as Jess and Delaney rode. However, I quickly realized that this was like no other carousel and I was GLAD we didn't get on. It was THE FASTEST I have ever seen (I think Delaney was a bit nauseous when she got off) . Therefore, not many good pictures!

Delaney was fearless...she wanted to ride everything in sight and Jess was a great big sis and rode them all right along with her.

Jess was able to ride the bumper cars, and I can tell you, Delaney was none too happy to hear that she was not big enough to ride.

We finally talked the boys into riding the train. Which I thought was just a short little ride, but it went around about 1/4 of the park. Which was nice, because it rode by a little section of the park that I had not seen that had more little rides in it.

The train opened up all kinds of doors for Owen. He was ready to ride! However, we still could not convince Sean that it would be fun.

Right after this, the storms came a rollin' in and the rides were shut down. Scott got there about the same time. We ducked into a little shop and waited it out. Once it slacked off a bit, we headed over to a pizza joint and ate some lunch. Once the rain stopped and all the rides dried up, we headed out again. Daddy put Owen on a ride that he was not very fond of and Delaney was very concerned for her little brother. Owen was very cautious about rides after this.

We rode the Hershey kiss tower. It went up, up, and up. Then 'round and 'round. We could see the entire park...

...and our hotel.

Finally, Sean found a ride he would ride...and ride...and ride!

I bet by the end of the day they rode the "mack trucks" 20 times. It was great! The rain scared everyone away and there were no waits on the rides. There were several times they didn't even get off between rides. The entire time the boys rode the mack trucks, the girls were on the Frog Hopper.

Now it was time for Jessica to find some roller coasters that she has been waiting so patiently for. I was nominated to ride the first one with her. And guess what? Delaney was tall enough to ride.

Delaney loved it...she wanted to ride and ride. But we had more to see and do.

After dinner (which is a post I will save and do separately), a friend that Jessica made at the hotel (remember this was a company trip, Scott works (not directly) with her dad) stayed with us to ride more rides with Jessica. They rode just about every roller coaster there was to ride. Some 2 and 3 times. There were NO lines. They could get off, run back to the line and only have to wait for one trip around and they were back on it. It was a roller coaster enthusiast's dream.

Hershey, Pa Day 3

Monday. The day Scott's meetings started. Now I am in a hotel. Alone with 4 kids. What to do, what to do? We headed out to the pool for the day.

It took the boys a little while to warm up to it (literally! It was mid 70's, partly cloudy, and windy. pretty chilly for us Southerners). they were happy playing on the very edges of the water. Which was cool because it was 'beach type' entry.

I didn't get many pictures of the pool because we were busy playing all day.

I stayed there with the kids until Scott was finished with his meetings around 2. Then I took the boys up for a nap while he stayed with the girls.

Sunday morning, after some yummy Dunkin Donuts...

...we headed to The Hershey Gardens.

Where once again, the kids could get a great view of the park that they still had to wait a few days before they could enjoy (This was business trip for my husband, so we had a scheduled day for the park).

after lunch Scott took the girls walking around the hotel while I stayed in the room so the boys could get a much needed nap!

Hershey, PA day 1

We arrived in Hershey early Saturday evening.
The girls instantly fell in love with The Hotel Hershey.

We hadn't had dinner yet, but the girls wanted to get in the pool before it was too late, so we just went to get some fast food and guess what was right next door....

yep...the park....The boys loved watching the roller coasters. I bet we stood out there for 20 minutes, but they had to wait until Tuesday to go to the park. It was torture for all of them to see the park every day, all day knowing they couldn't go yet.

But back at the hotel, we got ready for the pool.

And what a pool it was.

Back in the room for a bed time snack...

...and off to bed

Tomorrow the Gardens and The Hershey Museum.

It was 2 years ago this month. I met the family that would soon change my life forever. Jess and her beautiful twin girls, Piper and Tuesday. We met in Roanoke, VA for a weekend. 4 women, 8 babies, a toddler and two teen girls. What a weekend! A year later, Tuesday was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. I have never put so much heart and soul into prayers for anyone as I did for sweet Tuesday. Tuesday HAS changed my life forever! Sadly, Tuesday lost her fight with cancer in January of this year.

So for this weeks Way back, I am posting a picture of Jess and me on that first visit.

On this same trip I met Debi. Debi has become a very close friend of mine. If only we lived closer!

I was a bit torn this week on what to post! Should I post a picture of two of the sweetest boys ever or do I post a picture of Sean and Owen's dueling dinosaurs (bet that's got your minds wondering)? I choose both! lol

Future class of 2022! Holy Cow! My baby girl graduated from Pre-K today! Where has the time gone? Seems like just yesterday she was a tiny baby!

Three years ago, when she was a mere 2 1/2 years old, she started this preshool. She was so tiny and I wasn't sure I was doing the right thing by sending her so soon. However, I was 7.5 months pregnant with twins and I knew it would be good for her to be able to be around boys and girls her age and not always with two brand new babies.

Then...

Jessica was in school today and didn't get to come, but Chris made it and I was able to get a rare picture of him!

And at the end of the day, A Diploma and a note from the teachers!

Ms. Karen and Ms. Colleen, we sure will miss you! Delaney has learned so much in your class this year. However, you aren't REALLY getting rid of us just yet! Sean and Owen are registered for your school this fall! I can't wait!
