Despite the efforts of Scott's parents, Scott is a city boy!! They had him play baseball, took him camping, took him fishing. It just didn't work. Scott is a soccer playing, drum tapping, city boy! One that very rarely steps out side of his box. Until today that is!!
This past week, our friend and neighbor, Dan invited Scott to go to the NASCAR race in Charlotte, NC. Scott accepted the invitation, and was quite excited about it actually.
My first comment to him was to make sure his seats were not in "chicken bone alley!" The poor boy had no idea what I was talking about and I could not convince him that there was such a thing. Until Dan confirmed for me!!
All week Scott's plans were to just get up, grab an extra shirt and go!! Until Friday afternoon when he talked to Dan. He came in the house saying "I need to take snacks, we can take in our own cooler. Dan is taking grill and burgers. I didn't know it was going to be like this" All I could do was laugh!! Scott was SSOO unprepared!!
Scott watches ESPN on a regular basis, so he sees enough NASCAR updates to sort of know what is going on. Enough that he 'has a guy' so to speak. He decided a few years ago that he was a Tony Stewart fan!!
Friday night, after all the kids were in bed, Scott heads to Wal-Mart to pick up the need snacks he would need for the race. And guess what else he comes home with? A hat! Not just any old hat, a Tony Steward hat!! NOW he is ready!! Nope, not yet!! Scott spent the next 2 hours, I kid you not, trying to find a shirt that would match the hat! Too funny!!
Anyway, Scott left Saturday morning to head to his first NASCAR race, and like any other first, I had to take pictures. Here is Scott taking his things next door!
Delaney had to help him!
Notice the hat!!
Here is a picture Scott took with his phone and emailed to me!! I have talked to him on the phone, he sounds to be having a great time!

I must add that this is somthing I miss. My dad used to go to the race in Rockingham, NC twice a year. I always loved going with him. However, they don't have any races there anymore.

HOLY COW! That race track is HUGE!
I have never watched NASCAR, so I had NO IDEA either. LOL
That is an awesome photo that he got on his phone. I used to love going toe Grand Prix when I lived in Australia. So much fun.
Loved that he had to have just the right outfit.
Looks like Scott had fun! Man I am jealous! Okay so I read through some of the other stuff, and am adding my two cents here! The skirts came out a TON better than if I had attempted it. The girls looked lovely. But where was the pic of you in a poodle skirt?! The picnic looked wonderful. We had one of our own Sunday for lunch at the park. Now, must go preuse other blogs for the next 5 minutes! Love ya darlin.
That must be so much fun!, my father loves races
I did take Scott to drag racing at Englishtown NJ for the Nationals. You are right he does need to learn some southern culture!1 I will work on that inIndy this weekend for the 500. Better still we can work on him together for the Jimmy Buffet concert weekend on June 4th. I can't wait....
Signed a true 'Parrot Head'
Love Dad
