Debi over at Who Says 8 is enough tagged me to do an intriguing and thought provoking meme. Oftentimes, tags can get a bit repetitive, but I found this one to be a bit different. The Meme originated over an idea that was prompted by the book written by Larry Smith and Rachel Fershleiser, Not Quite What I was Planning: Six Word Memoirs by Writers Famous and Obscure. It's a compilation based on the story that Hemingway once bet ten dollars that he could sum up his life in six words. His words were- For Sale: baby shoes, never worn. Here are the rules:
1. Write your own six word memoir.
2. Post it on your blog and include a visual illustration if you’d like.
3. Link to the person that tagged you in your post and to this original post if possible so we can track it as it travels across the blogosphere.
4 .Tag five more blogs with links.
5. And don’t forget to leave a comment on the tagged blogs with an invitation to play!
When Debi tagged me I was a bit stumped, because I have always had a hard time saying anything good about myself, and I know that no-one is going to want to hear all of the bad things about me (ok, so maybe a few of you would). I found out Friday (I think) that Debi tagged me and I left her a message that I was going to take a couple of days to think about this one. I asked my husband what he thought I should write. Being the smart ass that he is, he said "This is supposed to be a thought provoking process. Let people know what you think about yourself." Great, Scott, What a big help you were.....NOT!" I tried really hard to come up with something amazing, but couldn't. Then I thought a memoir is a true story of someone's life so, here is what I finally came up with:
Mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, ME!!
I know it sounds like a bit of a cop out, but that is who I am. That is what I have always been and what I will always be!
It was also hard for me to figure out who to tag. And there are so many people that I would love to hear what they have to say, so I am just going to say to everyone who stops by and reads this...
You've just been tagged!!!
leave me a message that you finished your challenge!! Can't wait to read them all!!
If I didn't tag you, don't despair, you can still participate! just copy and paste this post and include it on your own blog to initiate your own string of the game. or you can just post a comment with your own 6 word memoir here and i will post them later!
