It was a Tye~Dye kinda day!

Jessica had her birthday on Saturday. Her birthday isn't until Thursday. Our friend Steven, was kind enough to help us with the party (since he had done the tye-dye thing before). Jessica invited 25? of her closest friends, however only 12 showed up (yes, I know I am insane). Steven did an fantastic job with them. He explained to them all how to make the different designs and they all went to town. (prepare for a picture overload)

Once everyone was done with their shirts, they were given instructions to wrap their shirt in newspaper, put it in a plastic bag, attach their name tag, which had instructions for parents with what to do later (keep wrapped for 24 hours, rinse out and wash in cold water), and head over so Jessica could open her birthday presents. She got a lot of great gifts. From gift cards, to mani/pedi set, to money. Can anyone guess what she spent her money on? (no fair guessing if I already told you) That will be a post for later this week!

After presents, we had cake. Normally, my sister would make the cake for their birthday, but she was out of town the week before the party, so was not able to make it. Jessica opted for an icecream cake.

Sunday afternoon, Jessica rinsed out her shirt (and I rinsed out the other 15 or so shirts that I had done for friends)

...and yes Christine, the washing machine is involved! lol

Look at all the great shirts
(these are all the ones I did for friends)

Jess and her friends all made plans to wear there shirt to school on Monday, unfortunately, Jess was sick and didn't go to school, but she did wear it today!

Tye~dye fun

Jessica has decided she wants to do a tye~dye party for her birthday. So we have been searching a way to make an invitation. I came across this idea:

Use a regular coffee filter

flatten it

color it using Crayola washable markers
(we also used the RoseArt washables, but the color did not come out as bright)

fold it in half

keep folding it until you get a small triangle (3 folds)

drip water on it
(I actually wanted to use a spray bottle, but couldn't find one so we just used a straw)

unfold it

lay it on a flat table to dry

Look at how many we have done!

The plan is to cut them, paste it to the front of an invitation and taadaa! A Tye~Dye invitation!!
I will let you know how that comes out!

Tye~Dye Mania

Good Friends and neighbors of ours, Steven and Krista Latchaw, have opened a business downtown. SL Photography, Printing, and Design. Saturday morning they did a little fundraiser, TYE~DYE! Scott and I took the boys down and I made shirts of all of the kids.

me and Steven (above)

I had to bring them home, wrapped in newspaper and in a plastic bag. They had to stay wrapped up for 24 hours. Sunday, I rinsed them out, washed them and hung them to dry.

Here are the finished projects!

It was so hot out! The boys just sat in their stroller and enjoyed a cold juice!

Jessica is still gone for the rest of the week, but I will update with pictures of them all wearing their shirts when she gets home.

If you happen to be in the area, and you need any type of photography work done, Please go see Steven. He is also doing art classes, photo restoration, the list is endless.
