Cancun, Mexico~Day 3

Tulum! Ancient Mayan Ruins!
What a site! You can read more about it here. From our resort it was about an hour and a half drive, but really worth it. The sites were amazing with the history behind them. And the water...AAHH, now that is the water I can swim in, but I didn't!!

I must say too, this is the ONLY place I have ever been where they ration out the toilet paper. Here is mine!! hehe

I think it was 8 sheets!! lol
Xel-Ha

The second part of the day was spent at Xel-ha, The largest "natural aquarium".

We did the lazy river, however, it was not too lazy!! Jenny managed to take off before me, then three couples went, and I must say, the ladies in that group were none to happy to be there!! Especially after Jenny pointed out the crabs on the river banks!! Anyway, you really had to work to get through the first part of the river. It was a long, narrow section and the river was not really flowing, so you had to kick and paddle. I was stuck behind the group of three, who were quite comical, but it was a bit frustrating. Anyway, out in the open, was a little easier, until the end when the river met the ocean water and the current was going the opposite direction, so you REALLY had to kick to get to the end!! This SHOULD NOT be called a lazy river!!

At Xel-Ha, you can also swim with the dolphins. We did not do that, but I did get some pictures of the dolphins at work. They have got to be the most beautiful animals!!

However, I did get a chance to swim with the dolphins last year. Here is a picture from last year!

The hammocks looked awesome as well, alas, we did not test those out either!

Most of the pictures of Xel-ha were taken on a disposable underwater camera that has not been developed yet. I will post those tonight when I get them back.

When we got back to the resort, we met up with Brian and Ashlee, went to dinner then to the lobby bar for the evening, where we discovered these drinks called 'The Bob Marley,' Get it?

It was named after this guy!

And of course, the trip just would not be right if Jenny didn't do a little arm wrestling!!

So glad you had a great vacation! Looks so beautiful...I went to Cancun when I was 20 with my best friend (holy crap that was 12 years ago!!) and its just as lovely as I remember it! So jealous that you went to Tulum though...we went to Chichen Itza and didn't have time to do both!
