24 Hours and Counting!!

Tonight we are expecting guest. A friend, Brandi, and her twin boys Colton and Connor, from my multiple moms message board are on there way up from Florida. Hopefully she will be able to make it here tonight. Let's keep our fingers crossed that she has good weather and the boys are good for her. In the morning, we will be getting up to meet up in Virgina Beach with several other moms from the board. Through out the week, there will be 7 mommies. So if you are doing the math, since it IS a multiples board, that will be 14 Babies...All within 5 months of each other. That is a lot of babies!! I can not begin to tell you how excited I am! The only down side? you guessed it...14 babies, with AT LEAST 6 diapers a day = 84 diapers A DAY!! X 7 days = 588 diapers at the bare minimum!! Holy Shit, that is a lot of diapers!! (pun intended)

Daddy's Little Helpers!

They all decided they wanted to help Daddy put the new chair together. They were a big help!! (Daddy my not think so) To some of you who know Scott, you know the real humor in these pictures is that he is doing something handy around the house. Notice he does have the instructions out, but I don't think he ever read words, just looked at the pictures.

And then there were two....

.....walkers!!

Owen is finally walking!! He is still not as good as Sean, but there is hope!! I have been waiting for this! It will be so much easier to go out side to play now that both boys are walking and will not be confined to the stroller or crawling on the ground!! Now it just needs to warm up and stop raining so we can go outside!! (sorry the lighting is so horrible on the video)

At the park during Soccer Practice

Delaney chasing bubbles

Ashley and Delaney playing red light, green light, Owen cheesing, Sean going for the bubbles

I decided that since I was going to be at the park for soccer, I should just bring bubbles and let Delaney and the boys have a good time playing. Ashley, a friend of Jessica's stayed with us this weekend while her parents got a much needed Anniversary get away!! Happy Anniversary Lara and Craig!! Delaney had a great time playing with her at the park while Jess was on the field!!

The season is upon us again

Yes that is right, it is soccer season again. Jess is hard at practice. The first game is the first weekend in March (girls it is a good thing we changed our beach dates or I would have to duck out early)! Scott is coaching this year, here are a few pictures of their first practice!

Not great pictures, but I noticed I did not get many pictures of the practice because I was taking pictures of the boys playing!! See next post!

Another Haircut

Sean before his hair cut
What a good boy!
Owen's before
cutting the curls away!!

I know I am a bit behind, but the boys got their second hair cut two weeks ago. A friend asked me if I had pictures (yes Brandi, I am putting you out there). The answer, NO. But I DO have pictures of their first haircuts and since I started this blogafter their first cut, I thought I would post pictures!!

Sean and Owen had PT assesment

Let's start with Sean: When we first scheduled the appt, we were concerned that Sean was not bending his right knee when he was walking, but just kind of swinging it around like and old man with a limp. However, we have noticed the past few days that he has gotten much better. The therapist were very pleased with his progress. Average score is 85+ with the highest being 115. His overall score was 95. Not bad at all. His Motor skill scores were higher than his problem solving skills (I am sure "problem solving" is not the right term, but that is all I can think of right now).

Owen, what can I say? After 15 months of life and us thinking that there was something wrong with our sweet little Owen because "he doesn't do the things the other kids can do" we find out we have a boy genuis on our hands!! His over all scores were 97. Only two points HIGHER than Seans, but get this. His motor skills were 81, which is slightly below average, his verbal was pretty low too, but his problem solving....112 and 113! Almost the highest possible score!! She said she testing him twice on a couple of things because she thougth maybe it was just a fluke that he got them!! For example, she had 4 nesting cups, wher one goes inside the other. He got all four of them stacked on the first try, TWICE!! No trial and error!! She had a puzzle that had a circle and a triangle and she showed him once where each piece went, he put them in the correct space!! We were all shocked and amazed!! I am still in shock! Could it be true? She said that while Sean has been working hard on learning to walk and do other physical things, Owen's mind has been working in a different way. He sits and tries to figure out how things work.
We wanted Owen tested first and formost for his feet. He points out, ALOT! There was a PT her and she was not too concerened about that. She said that is cosmetic and that it would be hard to find a Dr that would do anything about it. She said that around 18 months I would most likely start to see it correct itself as he starts walking more. We shall see.
We (we meaning Scott) did come out and ask if Owen showed any signs of Autisim. She said absolutly not! So that was refreshing. As you may know, I have had that concern off and on since he was born.

So all in all it was a good appt. Neither will need any kind of therapy at this time!! I guess you can say that Sean is going to be our little athlete and Owen is going to be an engineer!! I am ok with that!!

Happy Anit-Valentines Day!!

A friend sent this to me (she got it from a blog) and I felt I just had to post it!!

I am contemplating running an anti-Valentines day contest in opposition to SmallWorld’s. Of all holidays that I detest (which really aren’t many) Valentine’s Day gets my all time Loath award. And it’s not because something awful happened to me which has scarred my romantic psyche. It’s because I think Valentine’s Day turns normal, average, reasonable women into neurotic, self-obsessed, whiney, piteous, crybabies. It puts too much pressure on them and it puts too much pressure on their poor unsuspecting husbands.
And no, Valentine’s Day does not affect ‘all’ women like that – it probably doesn’t even affect ‘most’ women like that. But I’m looking out for us underdogs….yep, I’m Anti-Valentining on behalf of all us ladies who tend to put more emphasis on a thing than there should be. It’s too easy to get sucked into a state of nervous expectation that says, “I don’t know what I want in particular, but that man better figure out what it is and do something that makes me feel like a Queen” God forbid the poor man who only comes home with a card, or… forgets. Burn him at the stake and then CHOP OFF HIS HEAD!
And it’s a bummer, too, because no matter how hard I protest and tell everybody in my family how much I hate Valentine’s Day, I still end up with a card, usually some flowers and some chocolate. Nobody ever listens to me. And Geoff only tells me, “I’m afraid NOT to”
So Happy Anti-Valentines to all of you fellow Antivalentiners

In the infant room hanging out
We met our friends Kelly, Mallory and Jake at PlanetChild today!! The kids LOVED it!! I would take them back in a minute. A bit pricey for the boys at this age, but in time I think it will be worth it! We didn't get pictures of "the underground tunnel" and a few other things but they were all great!! Delaney always loves playing with Mallory. They play so well together. Thanks Kelly for meeting us there.
I didn't get pictures, but after PlanetChild we went to McDonalds for lunch. The girls had a good time playing there.

More Edenton pictures

There is a lot of history in Edenton. Did you know that Edenton was the first Capitol of North Carolina? I didn't until Karen told me. But I did research and By God, she was right!! It was named The State Capitol in 1722!!
"The famous Edenton Tea Party occurred on October 25, 1774 when 51 ladies of the town met and openly resolved that "We, the Ladys of Edenton, do hereby solemnly engage not to conform to the Pernicious Custom of Drinking Tea," or that "We, the aforesaid Ladys will not promote ye wear of any manufacturer from England until such time that all acts which tend to enslave our Native country shall be repealed." The site of the Edenton Tea Party is marked by a Colonial teapot mounted on a Revolutionary cannon. This protest was started by Elizabeth Barker."
From the tea cup looking down the street at The Albermarle Sound.
The two story white house in the back ground is The Barker House where Elizabeth Barker lived.

I wish it weren't so cold and windy out so that we could have gotten more pictures, but we will be back this spring and summer so we will get more pictures then.

My new favorite picture of Nathan!!

The picture says it all!!
I love you, Nathan!!

Nathan, You know I love you, but it had to be done!!

The nephews playing Basketball

While we were in Edenton, we decided to go see my nephews play basketball. They are both on a Church League. Tyler (#44) is 12 (a year OLDER than Jessica) and Nathan (#0)is 4. He should not be playing since you are susposed to be 5 to play, but they decided to let him play and he loves it!!

We decided to take and over night trip to my dad's house this weekend. It was a 2.5 hour drive. My sister went with us. Acutally, I went with my sister. She is a Pampered Chef consultant and my stepmom and SIL were having a party for her. The boys were great in the car. We left Scott at home and he was able to have a guys night out!!

15 months and the sickies!!

The boys had their 15 month check up today!! Dr. Johnson said they looked like perfect little boys. She was not concerned at all that they don't walk. She said they don't start worring about that until 18 months. 3 months and counting. Sean is 23lbs 5 oz (45%) and 32in (75%) long. Owen is 23lbs 8oz (45%) and 31 1/4 inches (50%). They had to get two shots today. Sean was a champ. He barely wimpered when she did the second shot. Owen, on the other hand, cried almost the entire way home (and it is a 30 min drive).

They have an assesment on the 13th with Children's Developmental Services to see if they need any physical Therapy. I think Sean will be fine, however, I do feel that Little Owen will need some assistance before he will walk on his own.

And the sickies....Delaney and Jessica. Jessica has been fighting ear infections for 2 weeks now. It started with her rigth ear, then that ear drum busted, then her left ear. She is home from school today with her ear still hurting and complaining of an upset stomach.

Delaney has been up since 5am throwing up. She is sleeping now. I hope when she wakes up she will be feeling much better.

Thank goodness Scott was able to go into work late this morning so he stayed home with the girls while I took the boys to the Dr.

Where is your nose?

Owen has been doing this for a couple of weeks now, but have never been able to catch him on video because he always wants the camera as soon as we pull it out. I am not sure how we are ever going ot get pictures/videos of these boys doing anything because they always cry for the camera!!
