Surgery Day

Delaney was as brave as brave could be. She skipped down the hall to her pre-op room. The nurses were all asking "Does she know why she is here?" We were so proud of how brave she was being.
She colored.

She danced around the room.
Pretended she was the nurse.

While playing around, Daddy left a little message on the board, which he fully intended to erase, but with the way things went, was not able to. Wonder how long it stayed there.

Until it was her time to go back..

She decided "I don't want to get my tonsils out." And the brave face went away. They rolled her away crying, which of course made mama bear cry as well.

After about 2 minutes, the nurse came out to tell me that she was already asleep. That made me feel a hundred times better. I hated the thought of my baby girl being so scared, and alone!

It took all of about 30 minutes for the surgeon to come out and tell us that here tonsils were bigger than Mt. Everest. OK, maybe not that big, but he said they were bigger than anything that he had ever seen and they bleed more than normal.

Delaney had a rough time waking from the anesthesia. She kicked and screamed. She wanted no-one but her mama. When I went back, one nurse was holding her, or maybe she was holding the nurse...She had such a tight grasp on her. After getting some pain medicine in her, she started to calm down and rest a bit more.

Stay tuned to see how her recovery went....

Never fun, never fun! Glad she had her mama close by and hope she got lots of ice cream.

My son ended up coughing up blood 5 days or so later and they said it was about a 1% occurance where they cough up the clots. So just prepare yourself and as long as there is no continual bleeding, just the initial clots, your fine. It really freaked us out.

Anyway, Have a great day!
