The Sock Hop
As you know, Jessica's school had a sock hop last night. It was girls night out! Scott stayed home with Sean and Owen while Jess, Delaney and I went to the Sock~Hop. And Jess was right, EVERYONE was wearing a poodle skirt. Even most of the moms. And the dads were in character as well! We had a great time. Each class put together a basket with their own theme. They were selling tickets to raffle off the baskets. Jessica and Delaney won one with school supplies. The hared the loot! Two other girls from Jessica's class won baskets. Lucky Class!! Jess was WAY.TO.COOL to hang out with Delaney and me!! She took off with her friends, But I was able to get some pictures.

Poodle Skirt? What?
Jessica has been planning to go to the "Sock Hop" at school for about a month or more. On Thursday afternoon, she says to me "Mom, everyone else is wearing a poodle skirt, can I get one?" (BTW, the sock hop is Friday, as in the next day) Doesn't she realize that Poodle skirts are a thing of the past and you can't 'run down to Wal-Mart to pick-up' a Poodle Skirt? Silly Girl!! So she then says "Let's make one". To which I reply "ok!" What? Did I just say that? Have I lost my frickin' mind!! (I should point out that I DO have a sewing machine, I have used it MAYBE 5 times. And ONLY to make pillows and seat cushions) So after dinner we head down to the fabric store, pick out a pattern and fabric and all the accessories to make a Poodle Skirt. Then I thought "hell, while I am at it, I might as well make one for Delaney, too" $65.00 later, we are leaving the store!! Yes, I said $65!! Crazy, I know!! I am sure if she had just told me 2 weeks earlier that her life would end if she did not have this skirt, I could have ordered one and had it delivered to my front door for much cheaper!!
As soon as we got home, we began to work...And I realized that I needed to turn this.....

Into this...
Did I mention that I don't sew? In case I didn't, I will say it now...I.DON'T.SEW!! It took me 30 minutes to figure out how to thread the damn machine! Thank goodness I saved the box and the instruction book or I would be screwed!! Any way I worked away for a few hours, got most of the sewing done...
How did I do, you ask? Well, you tell me!
Just please be nice, I am an amateur!
Ok..They are not completely done in this picture, but you will have to wait for the finished project for when I post pictures of the dance...Which was tonight by the way!!
