Jessica has been planning to go to the "Sock Hop" at school for about a month or more. On Thursday afternoon, she says to me "Mom, everyone else is wearing a poodle skirt, can I get one?" (BTW, the sock hop is Friday, as in the next day) Doesn't she realize that Poodle skirts are a thing of the past and you can't 'run down to Wal-Mart to pick-up' a Poodle Skirt? Silly Girl!! So she then says "Let's make one". To which I reply "ok!" What? Did I just say that? Have I lost my frickin' mind!! (I should point out that I DO have a sewing machine, I have used it MAYBE 5 times. And ONLY to make pillows and seat cushions) So after dinner we head down to the fabric store, pick out a pattern and fabric and all the accessories to make a Poodle Skirt. Then I thought "hell, while I am at it, I might as well make one for Delaney, too" $65.00 later, we are leaving the store!! Yes, I said $65!! Crazy, I know!! I am sure if she had just told me 2 weeks earlier that her life would end if she did not have this skirt, I could have ordered one and had it delivered to my front door for much cheaper!!
As soon as we got home, we began to work...And I realized that I needed to turn this.....

Into this...

Did I mention that I don't sew? In case I didn't, I will say it now...I.DON'T.SEW!! It took me 30 minutes to figure out how to thread the damn machine! Thank goodness I saved the box and the instruction book or I would be screwed!! Any way I worked away for a few hours, got most of the sewing done...
How did I do, you ask? Well, you tell me!
Just please be nice, I am an amateur!
Ok..They are not completely done in this picture, but you will have to wait for the finished project for when I post pictures of the dance...Which was tonight by the way!!
