Down the Aisles

Ok, so I went here and got this little survey. I thought it would be fun. Here are my answers. I want to read your answers as well, so make sure you leave me a message to let me know you have completed your survey!! Have fun!

1. Where did you meet your husband?
We had a mutual friend. Matt, that introduced us. I worked with him and Scott lived next him.
2. What was the first thing you said to your husband?
Ha..This is a funny one. 3 of my friends and I were meeting Matt and some of his friends to go out for the evening. Once we got to the apartment building I called Matt to find out which apartment was his. Scott answered the phone "Talk to me". To which I replied, "AH..can I speak to Matt?" I heard him in the back ground say "Hey Matt, I think it's your mom"...Nice start, huh?
3. Where was your first date?
Man...I suck... I don't remember!! I am sure it was dinner at Outback or Chili's or something like that. I'll call Scott....Whew...He doesn't remember either!! But if you remember from this post, you will recall that things didn't go so well for us in the beginning!
4. Where was your first kiss?
On the dance floor at "The Wharehouse", a dance club in Raleigh. (no longer there)
5. Did you have a long or short engagement/courtship?
We dated for a year living a hour away from each other. Then we moved in together. We lived in sin for a year before he proposed to me, then a year engagement before the wedding!
6. Where did you get engaged?
Walking along the edge of a lake. There is actually a lot more to the engagement story but that is a blog post of its own. (This was Michele's answer, but mine is the exact same. In fact, I did blog about it here.)
7. Where did you get married?
We were married at a Bed and Breakfast called The Preston Woodall House. It was absolutely perfect. Our reception, get this, was at Rum Runners, a dueling piano bar! The bar is divided into two different sections. We had the back part private all night and the piano bar was private until 10pm! We had our own private show for 3 hours!
8. Any disasters during the special day?
You know, I can't think of any!
9. Most special moment of your wedding day?
I came into our relationship with two children. Scott and his family have always treated them like their own family! We had a family medallion ceremony in our wedding where Scott presented Chris and Jessica with a Family Medallion necklace.
10. The song from your first dance?
Well, like I said, our reception was at a dueling piano bar, so I am sure it was something inappropriate!
11. If you were to do your wedding over, what would you change?
NOTHING!!

When-esday 5-28-08

I have decided to adopt the Way Back When-esday post! Every Wednesday (hopefully) I will post an old picture.

July 2002

My first one is of Chris holding the catch of the day. We stayed in Ocean City, Maryland for a week with Scott's parents, his sister and her family! He was able to go crabbing off of our back deck. Chris was just about to turn 12! My, where has the time gone. Chris, do your mama a favor and slow down a bit!! Chris will be 18 this July!

Check another one off for Scott!

I guess he didn't get enough of racing last weekend! Tom, Scott's dad called last week and asked Scott if he wanted to go to the Indy 500 with him! Are you kidding? That is Scott's kind of racing. You see, as I mentioned in the NASCAR post, Scott is a C-I-T-Y boy!! Well, Tom had box seats for the race! So Scott was able to sit in a nice cushy box and watch the race. Not only that but come on, Danica Patrick. Need I say more? However, she didn't have such a great race this week! I don't have pictures yet. I will be sure to post them as soon as I get some. Scott, I hope you are having a good time!

Pool Time

Another first!! That is right. I bought this pool over a month ago because it is so darn hot in NC, right? Wrong. Not this year (so much for global warming). We had one week where it was over 90. And actually, for the past 2 weeks, it has barely gotten out of the 70's! Crazy, I tell ya! So today, I got tired of waiting for warmer weather. It did hit 81 yesterday, so that is a start! While the boys were taking their morning nap, I blew up the pool, told Delaney that we were going to let the sun warm up the water until after lunch. She was surprisingly patient!! Amazingly patient!! Anyway, here are a few pictures.
Owen just wanted to sit int he corner and play with the occasional toy that floated by!
Sean was digging the little slide! He was going down on his belly and just laughing!!
There is a hole in the water hose, and I think Delaney had just as much fun running through that as she did in the pool
By the way, the water was still FREEZING! I dipped my toes in it! Not sure how they were staying in there!

Let me bring your attention to...

...the video bar on the right of my blog. I have had it there for a couple of weeks now and just realized that I have not directed you to it. It is a short video. Just click on one of the squares and the video will start! Just my little way of saying "Thank-you so very much to all of our soldiers that are serving, have served, are going to serve on our armed forces! With out you, we would not live in such a wonderful country"!!

A day at the Park

Since Delaney didn't have school today due to Memorial Day, some of the moms decided to get the kids together at Crowder Park. We had a blast. There were 6 kids, including Delaney. The funny thing is that all six of them have younger siblings close to the same age as the boys, and can you believe I did not get a picture of them all together? Even though I made a comment at one point that I wanted to, I totally forgot it!!

1st pic. Kiana( on her knees), Mallory, Madison (on knees), Paige, Delaney, and Tyler

2nd pic Paige, Delaney, Tyler, Mallory

The boys had a great time! And of course had to do everything they older kids were doing.

Sean & Owen

They all played hard and the ride home was nice and quiet!!

No need for anyone to rip me a new one. I know Delaney is not in her seat the correct way!

Hail Storm 5/20/2008

The wonderful town of Holly Springs had a Storm today with tornado warnings and the works!! Fortunately, no tornadoes but we did get large hail! Check out these pictures!

almost the size of a golfball

look at this funky shape!

Owen is very proud of his find!

This is just before Sean stuck the "iceee" in his mouth!

We checked for damage after the storm. I had a few minor dings on my van and the back brake light cover was cracked. Scott's car has dings all over it. Thank goodness it is a company car!!

I also took a short video of the hail falling. This was at the end of the storm and the hail was coming in smaller pieces!

Popsicle First

Several weeks ago, I got popsicles for the kids to try. However, since purchasing them, it has been cool outside (there was no way I was going to let them have them inside!!). Well, this past weekend while Scott was away, I was outside with the three smaller kids and decided to let them have a popsicle. Sean and Owen were IN LOVE!!

Are You?

You have a sunny disposition and are normally one of the first to show up for the party. You don't need too much attention from the host once you get there as you are more than capable of making yourself seen and heard.

Stepping Outside your Box!!

Despite the efforts of Scott's parents, Scott is a city boy!! They had him play baseball, took him camping, took him fishing. It just didn't work. Scott is a soccer playing, drum tapping, city boy! One that very rarely steps out side of his box. Until today that is!!

This past week, our friend and neighbor, Dan invited Scott to go to the NASCAR race in Charlotte, NC. Scott accepted the invitation, and was quite excited about it actually.

My first comment to him was to make sure his seats were not in "chicken bone alley!" The poor boy had no idea what I was talking about and I could not convince him that there was such a thing. Until Dan confirmed for me!!

All week Scott's plans were to just get up, grab an extra shirt and go!! Until Friday afternoon when he talked to Dan. He came in the house saying "I need to take snacks, we can take in our own cooler. Dan is taking grill and burgers. I didn't know it was going to be like this" All I could do was laugh!! Scott was SSOO unprepared!!

Scott watches ESPN on a regular basis, so he sees enough NASCAR updates to sort of know what is going on. Enough that he 'has a guy' so to speak. He decided a few years ago that he was a Tony Stewart fan!!

Friday night, after all the kids were in bed, Scott heads to Wal-Mart to pick up the need snacks he would need for the race. And guess what else he comes home with? A hat! Not just any old hat, a Tony Steward hat!! NOW he is ready!! Nope, not yet!! Scott spent the next 2 hours, I kid you not, trying to find a shirt that would match the hat! Too funny!!

Anyway, Scott left Saturday morning to head to his first NASCAR race, and like any other first, I had to take pictures. Here is Scott taking his things next door!

Delaney had to help him!
Notice the hat!!

Here is a picture Scott took with his phone and emailed to me!! I have talked to him on the phone, he sounds to be having a great time!
Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte, NC

I must add that this is somthing I miss. My dad used to go to the race in Rockingham, NC twice a year. I always loved going with him. However, they don't have any races there anymore.

The Sock Hop

As you know, Jessica's school had a sock hop last night. It was girls night out! Scott stayed home with Sean and Owen while Jess, Delaney and I went to the Sock~Hop. And Jess was right, EVERYONE was wearing a poodle skirt. Even most of the moms. And the dads were in character as well! We had a great time. Each class put together a basket with their own theme. They were selling tickets to raffle off the baskets. Jessica and Delaney won one with school supplies. The hared the loot! Two other girls from Jessica's class won baskets. Lucky Class!! Jess was WAY.TO.COOL to hang out with Delaney and me!! She took off with her friends, But I was able to get some pictures.

Delaney ran into our neighbor who danced with Delaney and boy did Delaney love the attention!!

Poodle Skirt? What?

Jessica has been planning to go to the "Sock Hop" at school for about a month or more. On Thursday afternoon, she says to me "Mom, everyone else is wearing a poodle skirt, can I get one?" (BTW, the sock hop is Friday, as in the next day) Doesn't she realize that Poodle skirts are a thing of the past and you can't 'run down to Wal-Mart to pick-up' a Poodle Skirt? Silly Girl!! So she then says "Let's make one". To which I reply "ok!" What? Did I just say that? Have I lost my frickin' mind!! (I should point out that I DO have a sewing machine, I have used it MAYBE 5 times. And ONLY to make pillows and seat cushions) So after dinner we head down to the fabric store, pick out a pattern and fabric and all the accessories to make a Poodle Skirt. Then I thought "hell, while I am at it, I might as well make one for Delaney, too" $65.00 later, we are leaving the store!! Yes, I said $65!! Crazy, I know!! I am sure if she had just told me 2 weeks earlier that her life would end if she did not have this skirt, I could have ordered one and had it delivered to my front door for much cheaper!!

As soon as we got home, we began to work...And I realized that I needed to turn this.....

Into this...

Did I mention that I don't sew? In case I didn't, I will say it now...I.DON'T.SEW!! It took me 30 minutes to figure out how to thread the damn machine! Thank goodness I saved the box and the instruction book or I would be screwed!! Any way I worked away for a few hours, got most of the sewing done...

How did I do, you ask? Well, you tell me!

Just please be nice, I am an amateur!

Ok..They are not completely done in this picture, but you will have to wait for the finished project for when I post pictures of the dance...Which was tonight by the way!!

Great Day for a Pic~Nic

Thursday was a little overcast, so it wasn't very hot. At lunch, Delaney, Sean, Owen and I decided to have a pic~nic lunch.
I think it may become a habit. The kids had a great time.

Soccer Awards

Last night we had a dinner at Rudino's Pizza for Jessica's end of season soccer party. The hard work of all of the girls was awarded by trophies! The girls were very excited to get them and it was great to see the girls together, enjoying themselves, playing songs on the jukebox and not stressing over a game.

The team parents got together and gave Scott and the assistant Coach, Malcolm an awesome gift. Scott got a nice shirt which has 'coach' on it, a gift card to Dick's Sporting Goods, and a soccer magnet which all of the girls signed. Thanks, that really meant a lot to Scott. He could not believe how nice you all were to him last night! He was really touched by your generosity.

Scott also got Malcolm a picture frame that had a team picture which was singed by all of the girls. Unfortunately, Malcolm was unable to make it to the dinner due to a death in the family! Malcolm, we are praying for you and your family.

I also want to say thank you to Julia and her mom for bringing a cake. It was delicious!!

Delaney, Sean and Owen also had a great time playing.
